Quilted Christmas Mantle Piece

I took a class with Mary and she showed us how to make this beautiful mantle piece. I had so much fun making it that i actually made another one for a friend in which all her christmas decor is done in blue.

Orion Star Finished

I finished my Orion Star Quilt top by Eleanor Burns. I really am going to have to start labeling the names of these quilts. I ordered the backing im gonna to use on it through fabric.com by Michael Miller. Exact same fabric the lady who taught the class was going to bring me for 10.00 a yard i bought onsale for 3.50 a yard. Woooooooohoooooo what a bargain

Orion star

Still in progress, Although there wasnt any major problem so far, Its very important to square off fabric as you are making the block. I could see where i could have had a disaster on my hands. My good friend Mary showed me how to square off the block without losing very much fabric. If you have been told not to square block until finished. Please do it as you go. It will be alot easier and wont have the potential of ruining the quilt by being all crooked and noticeable.

Orion Star

Quilting is so pieceful . watching cut up fabric come to life. This is the beginning of the quilt. First time ive ever used a flying geese ruler. I'll try and remember to take pictures during the process. Ive gone out of my box on the colors. Bill says it looks like cancer awareness. Could be.

Chubby Charmer ToteBag

Now that i love to quilt, i want to take what i learned and make something that i can wear or carry around. The lastest ASG meeting said that the "in Colours for this fall was teals, turquoises, browns, golds and blacks so i made a tote bag called the chubby charms totebags to show off those colors. The making of the tote was so cool because i didnt run into any problems and it gave me the best instructions on how to make straps Another feature that was really cool, the magnetic snaps on the sides of the tote, and you can keep the tote unsnapped when carrying larger projects back and forth to class.

JellyBarJelly

After i took the irish chain class, i just had to take another quilt class called the JellyBargelly. It was a 4 week long class with lots of homework :). When the intructor gave me my fabric, i looked at it and it wasnt the colors i had picked , i had originally ordered mauve and green . I settled for the brown tones that she gave me. The first day we had alot of cutting out to do and sewing strips together. Second day we made tubes and cut them into differents widths. Then the fun began, on the 3rd day of class sewing all the widths together. The 4th day i about made my self sick i was in so much pain , getting up and down off the floor arranging borders the sewing them together. I was out of commision for a couple of days in pain. My good freind from Georgia told me to lay the quilt top on my bed while assembling it and i tell you that made a world of difference. I ended up buying more fabric to make the jellybargelly into a queen size. The original size was a oversized lap quilt.

United we stand

Bill and i each made a united we stand patriotic shirt. We ran into a really great deal on the HotFixIt yahoo group ran by tammie. The 4mm stones are currently at 2.00 per gross. Tammie is right when she said that people were afraid to use up the "real thing because of the price. Well at Tammies price i really dressed the shirt up and it sure did turn out nice. I had to order more lol.

Today in serger class we learnt how to make a serger charging station. Boy i wish ive had this nifty thing so many times when i have traveled. Ive left behind cellphone chargers a time or two or had to go back into a hotel room to get my phone after ive checked out. It even has loops to hold a power strip. Now that is so cool. Im always running out of plugins while traveling.

3rd week of irish chain class

Today was my quilt class, I put batting in between fabric and beganembroidering celtic knot onto the big squares (17 squares) . I used variegatedcotton. I didnt think i would have to buy any thread today because i had my own"embroidery thread" but i learnt something with this quilting. You are notsupposed to use rayon or polyester emb because it will cut into the fabric. Ilove taking these classes, that is where i learn to correct the bad habits thati do on my own lol. I stayed over for a couple of hours and embroidered all but2 of the squares. It was alot of work. Im not used to embroidering on a pfaff soit was a challenge at first learning was buttons to press but i got the hang ofit after awhile.

If you ever get a chance to be apart of a Christopher Nejman event, you will be in for a wild time . He is the author of bags and pillows and teaches you how to use the 12 needle embellisher. What a blast that day was. I can not wait for him to come back to tulsa. That event is where i learnt the true meaning of Babylock, for the love

I love to digitize, it is so therapeutic for me. Takes my mind off of so many things and puts me into the moment. I did a stitch out and there is a couple of things i want to go back in and change but overall i was very pleased how it turned out.
