Quilting 101

Today was my first class in quilting. We are learning how to make an Irish Chain. It was much easier than i thought. The key is to have a fresh cut. That i mean by holding the fabric by the selvage edge. Press the fabric and make sure no wrinkles. Take the fabric over to the cutting table and cut off the first inch to get a straight cut. If you dont get a straight cut then chance are you are going to get a bow in the fabric and when you go to sew pieces together, they will not line up properly. There were only three of us taking the class, so i was able to get alot of 1 on 1 help.
